I began working on my own checklist for a Cessna 172 in August 2007. After leaving the flight school I was renting from and joining the flying club. I wasn’t happy with the quality or consistency of the check lists in the airplanes, sometimes there wasn’t even a checklist in the plane. I’ve been modifying this checklist with a CFII over the past year, fixing it as we find problems with it.

There are 2 sheets in this Excel file.

1. Pamphlet is for printing back-to-back pages with a cover (you’ll have to provide your own cover page, mine just says “c172 Checklist”).
2. Side-by-Side is in a more logical on-screen reading order or can be printed and stapled in the corner.

The Pamphlet is easier to work with in the plane when its printed properly and stapled down the center, but the side by side is faster if you are in a hurry and don’t have time to print off/bind the pamphlet.
